“Ariamara” becomes a movie, from a regional T.V. serial a great cinematographic project is born. The T.V. serial Ariamara”, broadcast by Telenorba, has attracted about one million viewers over the last two years with peak audiences exceeding prime-time ratings for national channels. The TV series has aroused the interest and favour of critics, winning the “ Millecanali” T.V. prize and becoming a new national model. The debate arising from the simple and creative way in which it deals with dramatic issues has transformed the movie into a sociological phenomenon.
“ Ariamara”- The movie describes and develops the characters, the milieu, the daily struggle between organized crime and the police, which takes place along the coast of Puglia. The serial’s success has paved the way for a project of higher technical and artistic quality.

L’ARIAMARA - The film is an example of a positive trend in film-making in Puglia consisting in a notable increase in local films obtaining recognition at both national and international levels.
According to Cinetel , Alessandro Piva’s movie “Lacapagira” has attracted 100.000 spectators in Puglia alone: 30.000 through the distribution of a single copy and 70.000 in Bari alone.
Six more films have followed over the past year (“Sotto gli occhi di tutti”, “La casa delle donne”, L’Anima gemella”, “ Io non ho paura”, “Il Miracolo”, “Mio Cognato” ) attracting between them enough spectators as to justify the expression “ the new school of cinema in Puglia”.
